Our Top 11 Films for Jack Lemmon

Jack Lemmon was one of our favorite American actors starring in some of our favorite comedies like Some Like it Hot. He was nominated for 8 Oscars, winning two of them - one each Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Actor in a Leading Role, among countless other awards. Headed into the holidays, his films will make great gifts for any classic movie lover, and these are the ones we recommend for everyone!  

1. Mr. Roberts (1955)

This is by far one of our favorite early Lemmon films, about a Navy ship in WWII and won Lemmon an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

2. Some Like it Hot (1959)

He was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role as a result of this outrageous comedy with Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis.

3. The Apartment (1960)

His second nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role was for this comedy of epic proportions about a man who lets the executives in his company use his apartment for their romantic trysts in order to get ahead.

4. Days of Wine and Roses (1962)

The hits kept coming and Lemmon was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role yet again in this film about an alcoholic and his new wife.

5. The Fortune Cookie (1966)

This great comedy was made so funny in large part due to the team of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.

6. The Odd Couple (1968)

Another hilarious Lemmon and Matthau comedy, this movie is one of his most remembered and loved. The comedic duo delivered a performance of truly epic proportions!

Last but not least, our final favorite had to be this 1992 crime thriller about high pressure sales.
